Decorative Antique Pewter Dragonfly

The dragonfly form is one of the more interesting ones to cast in metal. Four wings, an elongated body, the kind of bilateral symmetry that reads as precise without being rigid. In antiqued pewter, the wing venation picks up shadow and depth from the finish in a way that makes it look considerably more considered than its $28 price suggests. At just under five inches wide it has more presence than the butterfly — enough to hold its own on a bookshelf or windowsill rather than needing the company of other objects. Set it on a tray, a desk corner, or a bathroom ledge and it does what good small objects do: make the surface it sits on feel like someone actually thought about it.

Group with the Antique Pewter Butterfly on a small tray or windowsill for a miniature nature-inspired pewter collection. Place on a decorative tray alongside a candle and a few books as part of a desk or side table vignette that reads as considered rather than cluttered.
